It's reviewing time! I've been at cold, harsh, and mean Canada for way too long. Now that I'm back in sunny Florida, and on a computer that can get into DA, I can FINALLY give you a thorough, one thousand word, TL;DR review. I have chosen this one to critique because I think this might be one of your top personal favorites! So, here we go!

I had noticed Spitfire, yes, but what really caught my eye was the amazing job you did with the background! It almost matches her pose, which strikes a feeling of wildness and eager intentions. It still aims for a specific mood, though. I almost couldn't tell what it actually was, however. At first, I thought you were simply trying to make it easy on the eyes by forcing the darker hues of green to the bottom, and lofting the brightly radiant pigmentations of pink, yellow, and boggy blue to the top. The blotches of white finally told me, after longer durations of observing them, that the background color is, intact, the land of Equestria, and not random spews of paint. It's almost as if I've got my eyes purely set on Spitfire, while everything else just melts, or fades away into this scenery of splashing luminosity. I, of course, continue to encounter emotions of sublime while glancing at just the background. That sense of sanctuary dissipates, though, once I begin to acknowledge the real subject of this fine work of art, Spitfire.

Now, we have our main star. She's spunky, determined, and ready to soar. After all, that's what she does best. My god, those wings! Have I said how much I've seen you improved on those through my observations? Why, before they resembled bubbles, if I recall correctly. Now... Wow... All I can merely utter is "wow"! I can tell you were attentive to the length of her right, so it matches well with the left, but unfortunately, I believe you didn't do enough. Of corse, I can't really tell without a redrawing of this, but I believe it would've come out more... 'lifelike' if you made the wings extend a teensy bit more on the right, or shorten the other; either way, they still look ten times better.

Her legs seem a bit scrawny, just where they start to curve at the heels. On the show, they look fuller, but the way you made them is still very appealing, despite it seeming to be showing her bones. The wing length, the skinniness of her heels and her ear are the ONLY flaws I see though. I'll explain more on her ear later. For now, I'd like to continue with some other remaining factors.

Look at that chest...! Tee Hee, that sounded extremely perverted, but seriously! Look at it! The fur sticking out just looks so attractive. It reminds me of dynamite blowing up a mine, shooting spurts of dust and dirt out of the entryway, or maybe I should use the example: the coat of a lion. The point is, her breast fur is astounding to me, and I've seen my fair share of well drawn chest fur. It's not every day a pony is made with that sort of feature. Usually, I'll see it on wild dogs. Very rarely do I notice ponies with it, and when I do, it looks like rubbish. Yours, though, I'm loving... Let's continue before I completely overload from dawws.

Those eyes have a great amount of certainty, that wherever she's going, she can't fail the mission she's embarking on. Her scowl could literally provoke any of her fellow Wonderbolt comrades, and you KNOW Rainbow Dash loves that about her! Spitfire's always had that sort of sparky flare in her eyes. Like she's going to beat an Alicorn in a flight race or something, and she probably has... This is just a 'pop up' question, but, if I ever do a fiction about Spitfire racing the Alicorns, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, could I use this as the cover?

Getting back on track, her tail and mane need some words put in as well. Bed head, or an inferno? Which would her mane resemble the most? I think both! The way it's completely and utterly unruly resembles a washed out rock star, and flames cascading with each other in a camp fire. It's not an angry fire, but instead, a calming one that any being could watch to gain a sense of relaxation.

Her tail... Mmh... The way it turns and, almost dance with the background is ridiculously hypnotizing! I once stared into the flames of a fire, and I can tell you, if those lines of red and orange were upside down, her tail would be what they most resembled. There are some moments where the color of the sky seem to become part of the very edges, but I would recommend keeping it that way. The amber colorings match the blue and green to make it seem that much more realistic.

Her hooves, muzzle, neck, stomach; the entire anatomy is perfect, and the style you chose to give it that 3-D effect was well decided. I love that the most about this. Her tail literally looks like it's getting farther away as it goes behind her hooves and left wing. One more look at the face... and I see her ear. Last flaw for this critique: It looks glued on. The line that's supposed to connect goes too far upward, or maybe it's because I'm not receiving that animated effect I get when staring at her tail. It just doesn't look attached in my eyes. Everything else, however, as I said, is shockingly impressive.

Your talents continue to improve. Plus, these backgrounds I'm constantly seeing invariably increase in quality! If I had a dollar for every great background you've drawn, I think I'd be able to afford that computer I've been needing. As always, this is exceptional, and I apologize for this kind of review/critique to be written so late, but I've been tremendously busy. I will NOT be disappearing like this again though (knock on wood). I cannot wait to see your next personal artwork. I just know it'll be as breathtaking as this. If not, better!

An image of Spitfire where she isn't being flirty or dominating, it becomes a breath of fresh air in the stagnant world surrounding her character now.
She is clearly free here, broken from the bonds of her being nothing more than a Wonderbolt and simply enjoy the pleasures life has to offer.
Her colors are well chosen, every orange and yellow dancing among their counterparts and complimenting the shading techniques with ease. The bright highlight on her right forearm bears witness to her being high above the ground and is a clever touch for depth.
The sense of relaxation in the picture is reinforced by the "hovering" position of her wings and the effect gravity is having on her mane and tail versus wind speed. She isn't in a hurry to be anywhere or even to show off, she is simply Spitfire here.
My only critique, yet it strikes me as artist prerogative via your perspective, is the indiscernible background. I love the background, and it allows me to focus on the beauty of Sparks and not be forced to observe the clutter around her, but even when I do take the time to view it i find I don't know what most of it is supposed to be. You said the white was clouds, and i can deduce with the green and blue that the bottom is a mountain range and river, but I find myself confused as to the reason behind the oranges, yellows, and purples around her. It feels like you created Sparks and then built a quick background behind her.

Easily a fantastic piece, worthy of every bit of praise and attention it receives. You've taken a day that means little to me and added a Spark of excitement to it, thank you for making this day something special :D

Oh, so those are clouds. I didn't really notice them till you pointed them out, to busy looking at those wings.
I love the stylization of Spitfire that you've done. its an excellent contrast between the abstractness of the bg and the clear, defined lines on the pony.
If that made no sense at all, forgive me. Late at night. Srarting to ramble.

Thank you! Yeah, that made sense. I've always had trouble with clouds, so it's good to see it works regardless.
